Since I’ve been used to it all the times, I’m really missing it….especially lunch time. It would be great if sometimes in the future, it could be found easily in London… I know, it’s a dream that never come true. Luckily two years abroad has taught me well, not surprisingly am missing some westhern food as well. So, without 经济饭, where do you hunt for lunch? Good question.
Answers:
1. Sandwiches shop (Pert A Manger http://www.pret.com / Subways etc..)
2. Tesco/Sainsbury
3. Restaurant
4. DIY creative lunch
5. All and above
As the matter of fact, I love No.5.
Usually when I’m not too lazy, my preference is No.4.
When I was working in London, we had lunch in No.3 once a week on Friday.
If I’m tire or just being lazy, No.1 and No. 2 are good enough.
To be honest, Londoner…… or shall I say most of the Europeans doesn’t emphasize on lunch but dinner and coffee. I’d learnt and adopted, without coffee^^. Still, a cup of tea is better (healthier). Light lunch is always a trend and I’d missed the sandwiches so much! Of course, I’m not having bread ONLY lunch, there are many choices available in Tesco/Sainsbury. Sometimes I prefer ready cooked meals, which are really yummy. Eg. Lancashire hotpot, fish pie with mashed potato, chicken fillet with cheese, spaghetti bolognese and etc.

They were called “ding food” to me. Why? Coz simply put them into the microwave, after several minutes, “ding” and there you go, it’s ready to eat!
Oh ya, in Sainsbury (one of the largest supermarket in UK), they have self scan checkout machines. What does it do? Well, it’s like a role play thingy…yourself can play as a casher and customer at once, of course without salary.

Step 1. Touch screen to checkout
Step 2. Detect the barcode of the item on the machine
Step 3. Put item into the plastic bag
Step 4. Select choice of payment
Step 5. Pay $$$
Step 6. Take receipt and bye bye
Quite fun to cut the queue in the attended checkout when you’re in a hurry.
For those who love cola but is on diet, try coca cola zero

This is my lunch.
Sandwiches from Pert A Manger(fresh sandwiches made daily). Strawberries and organic cheese from Sainsbury. Yum yum~
